Limonene produces a pungent citrus smell that is very distinct and is the most recognizable terpene. This scent is often associated with cleaning products, it is known for producing that wonderful “clean” smell.

Limonene, often referred to as delta-limonene, has a flavor profile similar to a lemon. Naturally a citrus flavor can be noticed when consumed, with an underlying note of bitterness.

Benefits/Effects:

Limonene is one of the most common terpenes found in cannabis. This terpene is most associated with sativa-dominant strains, but is found in sativa, hybrid, and indica strains. Due to the low toxicity, limonene has a wide variety of uses (perfumes, cleaning products, food, medicines). In traditional medicine, limonene has been used to treat bronchitis, heartburn, and gallstones. Limonene also posses properties that promote weight loss and digestion. In large doses, limonene can be used effectively as a natural laxative. This terpene also contains antimicrobial, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties.
